Promote Your School has been fortunate to work with the school for a number of years. During this time, we’ve designed and installed multiple phases of bespoke Wall Art for their learning environment. And, this phased approach has totally transformed the school’s interior.
As English College Dubai is an All Through School, we tailored the design of each phase to the specific year groups they were aimed at.
Today, we’ll take you on a visual journey through the school’s transformation. We’ll also discuss the school’s goals for each phase, and how the Wall Art helped achieve them.
Primary School Values and Maps
For the first phase, we created Wall Art for busy communal areas of the Primary School.
First, we displayed the school’s values in the reception area to greet anyone who enters the building. The school’s colour palette provided a vibrant backdrop for the designs. While a wraparound design fits the space perfectly, to add interest to the walls and showcase the school’s values.
This is a powerful way to communicate and reinforce the school’s values of aspiration, gratitude, integrity, resilience and respect.
Next, we designed three maps for the Primary School Pods. The maps feature Dubai, the UAE and the solar system. They give pupils a sense of their place in the world – their local area, Geographical region, wider country, the world and entire universe.
Secondary School Book Wall
The Secondary School was keen to create Wall Art across their buildings that would clearly demarcate subject areas, inspire curiosity, and support students in getting into the right mindset for learning as they enter each curriculum area.
They were also keen to empower students to take control of their own learning journeys and pathways, as exemplified in the Book Spine Reading Wall in the Humanities Department. Classic and much-loved texts were selected as recommendations that encourage pupils to choose their own reading journeys.
In this vibrant literacy inspired Wall Art design, pupils can see the titles of popular books on the spines of a larger than life visual library. We even included some individual images of characters, objects, and scenery from the featured books to bring the stories to life. This literacy wall is certain to spark interest in the featured books and inspire new generations of readers.
Science and future aspirations
Science was the star of the show for our next phase of design. We featured images of famous people who hold interesting jobs across the field of Science.
The design showcases the huge range of Science based career opportunities available to pupils. And, it celebrates the aspirational people who serve as role models within Science and wider society.
The question; “Where can Science take you” is useful to prompt discussion between pupils. So, the Wall Art promotes active learning and pupil engagement. It’s an effective learning resource to complement lessons in the classroom.
Phase in progress
We’re currently working on a new phase of Wall Art for English College Dubai! Coming soon, we’ll add future careers and aspirational people to the existing areas.
We’ll also create Art based hubs that celebrate people and careers associated with the subject.
We’re delighted to continue working with this inspiring school. It’s been wonderful to guide them through their school’s visual transformation. And we’ve enjoyed hearing about the impact our Wall Art has on pupils, teachers and parents at the school.
