North Gate British School Subject Zone Wall Art
We designed Wall Art for North Gate British School.
North Gate British School is a modern British curriculum school in Ajman. This innovative international school in Ajman is dedicated to promoting global educational opportunities, environmental awareness, intercultural understanding and student wellbeing. They also instil a strong appreciation of UAE heritage and culture.
We designed bespoke Wall Art to transform designated corridors. Each design focused on a subject from the school’s curriculum. They’re sure to spark curiosity in each subject. And they include key facts from each, so pupils can familiarise themselves with curriculum content directly from the walls.
Subject zones
Subject Zones support learning in many ways. They are visual learning tools that engage pupils and spark genuine curiosity in subjects from the curriculum.
In this project, the Wall Art serves multiple purposes;
- Inspires interest in core subjects from the curriculum
- Gets pupils in the right mindset for learning before they reach the classroom
- Acts as built in signage for wayfinding
- Brings colour and interest to the walls in a zero maintenance, longlasting format
Engaging corridors
The schools opted for a half-height design, which perfectly suits the corridors and matches their existing style.
Corridor Wall Art promote active learning as it encourages pupils to engage with the designs at their own pace. Pupils can walk alongside the designs and discuss what they discover. This is great to build vocabulary and spark critical thinking. In this case, the project focused on Science, English, Maths and Design & Technology.
Our process
We worked directly with North Gate British School to bring this project to life. The school were clear in their goals for the Wall Art. They wanted to bring learning to life on the walls and spark curiosity in each subject.
Our GCC Consultant Marie visited the school to discuss the project in detail. She was able to walk around the building and review the areas pinpointed by the school for their Wall Art. During this visit, Marie measured up the wall space so we could provide an accurate quote for the scope of work required.
She then guided the school through the design process to help them set and refine their brief.
Bespoke design
Once the school had outlined their requirements in a brief, Marie then worked with our in-house design team. The team took the school’s requirements and translated those into artwork concepts, which Marie then shared with the school.
After incorporating the school’s feedback, the design team finalised the artwork for approval. We then printed and installed the Wall Art – all included in the initial cost.
We’re delighted with the outcome and the positive feedback we’ve received from the school. This project was all about making learning engaging and accessible. And we’re pleased to see the corridors bursting with colour and life thanks to the bespoke designs.
