We created a History Timeline for Isleham CE Primary School.
Isleham CE Primary School offers a Christian education to pupils in Cambridgeshire.
Building on their Chritstian Values, they have three learning values – Resilience, Excellence and Discovery. These are the values that allow pupils to become learners for life, giving them the skills and knowledge to be successful wherever they go next.
The school’s physical environment also plays a key part in learning. And, with a new school logo introduced recently, there was an opportunity to add some colour and identity to the walls.
So, the school approached us to design a bespoke Timeline. With a single wall for the design, we wanted to maximise every inch of space. So, we used a circular Timeline effect that would take pupils on a journey through history in a smart and succinct format.
A Corridor Transformation
The school chose a busy corridor as the location for their History Timeline. As a walkway, the corridor was lacking in interest and served merely as a thoroughfare for students.
So, we created a very colourful, purpose-led Timeline. The Timeline adds focus and function to the walkway, transforming the corridor into a vibrant learning opportunity. Pupils can see and absorb the information at-a-glance. And as they use this corridor so frequently, they’ll remember key dates and facts over time, without even realising they’re learning.
Information is presented clearly and visually. So it will appeal to all types of learners. And we included lots of images to add interest to the walls that would spark curiosity in pupils of all ages at the school.
Our process
We worked closely with Mr Brough, the school’s Headteacher. He was very keen to add personality and character to the area, and brighten up a dim corridor. We really enjoyed sharing ideas and hearing his vision for the project. Once we had a clear understanding of the brief, we then fed back the goals, ideas and requirements to our in-house design team.
They worked to the specifications of the wall space, to ensure the designs would fit perfectly and achieve all the intended aims. The school offered valuable feedback on their artwork, so we could tweak the designs to make them perfect for the approval phase. Once the school had approved the final designs, we sent them to print. Our installers visited the school prior to installation day to ensure the area was prepared and ready for the big day.
Finally, we installed the vibrant History Timeline on the wall. We’re delighted with the positive feedback we’ve received from the school. They love the colourful, circular design and use the Timeline as a reference point in classes.
