Using their vast industry knowledge, our experienced team has reflected upon designs that have risen in popularity recently and that they feel will continue to grow in demand in 2025. Our consultants speak with education leaders every day, which offers valuable insight into what schools will focus on in the coming year.
Read on to find out about our predicted Wall Art trends for 2025.
The Government first set out their National Plan for Music Education in 2022. More recently, they asked schools to publish a summary of their music development plans on school websites for the 2024/25 academic year.
In 2025, there will likely be a big focus on the importance of music in supporting SEND pupils. The Government’s National Plan for Music Education says that, “A strong foundation of music in the early years is vital for all children, but particularly for disadvantaged children or children with SEND. Schools should not only actively include children with SEND in music teaching, but should also consider where music opportunities could be led by pupils with SEND. ”
Sophie O’Sullivan is a Promote Your School Consultant based in London. A former Art Teacher, she welcomes the Government’s plan to prioritise Music education;
“In 2025, I believe schools will reflect their commitment to music education with visual displays – like Wall Art – in key areas.
These displays might showcase famous musicians and the impact they’ve had on the world. Or, they may include instruments and facts about how each is played. Music timelines will also be popular, tracking the evolution of music through each era.
Children are proven to thrive in schools where the arts are at the heart of a broad and balanced curriculum. Music is a key aspect of this and I’ll look forward to working on more Music based Wall Art projects with schools in 2025.”
Wellbeing will remain a big focus for school wall art trends as we enter 2025. Schools can use Wall Art to motivate pupils to engage in thoughts and behaviours that improve their mental, physical and emotional health.
Designs can be colour coded to represent the zones of regulation, with symbols or images to illustrate the feelings that accompany each colour. Schools can take their designs a step further by adding strategies to help pupils deal with ‘red zone‘ and ‘blue zone’ feelings, for example. This might include stress relief and anger management advice, or tips to calm and soothe the nervous system.
Promote Your School’s Midlands Consultant, Haylie, explains;
“Ofsted wants schools to visibly encourage discussion and holistically engage pupils. And, schools need to do this in ways that don’t add more to teachers’ already stretched workloads.
Wellbeing walls will be key here.
We’ve recently designed wellbeing Wall Art for schools like Downlands Community School and The Highfield School. These positive designs give pupils action-based advice about happiness, wellbeing, and even exam revision tips.
In this way, pupils can feel empowered and take control of their wellbeing. I’d expect to see more schools taking this approach to wellbeing walls in 2025.”
Environmental awareness walls remind pupils of the role they play in combating climate change and protecting the natural world.
Wall Art will continue to offer a positive message to students, reminding them that it’s never too late to take action!
Helen is Promote Your School’s North-East Consultant. She has an optimistic outlook when it comes to eco-awareness for schools;
“This year, we’ve seen a number of schools using their walls to offer tips on everyday actions pupils can take to reduce their carbon footprint.
In 2025, we’ll look forward to supporting schools with environmental awareness Wall Art that dazzles and inspires pupils of all ages. Eco-heroes like David Attenborough and Greta Thunberg will no doubt feature in many of these designs.
I’m excited to see schools continue to take a positive and proactive approach to environmental awareness.”
Last year, we shared the growing trend of schools linking curriculum Wall Art to future careers. Evidence suggests that 2025 Wall Art trends will follow a similar pattern.
In 2024, we designed STEM walls that demonstrated how Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths can facilitate a plethora of career options for pupils. Similarly, we designed general curriculum walls that showed pupils how a broad and balanced curriculum can open up future career prospects.
Richard Collins is a Promote Your School Consultant based in the South East of England. He expects this trend to continue;
“In 2025, I’ll expect the curriculum and careers design trend to evolve further, focusing on ‘Jobs of the Future’ in particular.
Future-based designs will show pupils how the curriculum will equip them with skills they’ll need to thrive in a fast-paced and technology-first world.
Innovation walls are also likely to be popular. They’ll inspire pupils to remain open-minded about the opportunities that will exist when they move beyond school. For example, they might consider a career in e-sports, which is the fastest growing UK tech sector.”
James was a teacher for twelve years prior to joining Promote Your School as a Consultant.
He believes that schools will continue using Wall Art to develop cognitive ability and inspire creative thinking;
“In 2025, Wall Art will continue to encourage discussion, widen vocabulary and spark storytelling – both orally and in writing.
Immersive designs will remain a popular resource to help pupils focus attention and regulate their emotions.
Critical thinking will also be key – schools will want their Wall Art to incite questions, spark curiosity and enable further exploration of their content.
One way to achieve this is by integrating technology into Wall Art designs, through QR codes for example. When scanned, these codes can link to high-order thinking questions, quizzes and information libraries, to make the Wall Art even more engaging and valuable.”
