Torquay Academy is a Secondary School and Sixth Form in Devon. Ofsted says that, “pupils are proud to attend the school and thrive in an environment where high expectations are coupled with outstanding opportunities.”
Since our first Wall Art project for the school in 2018, we’ve completed a whopping eleven projects for Torquay and transformed key areas of the school. Over this time, we’ve developed a strong relationship with the school’s Headteacher and senior leaders.
We’re delighted to share a few short video clips where teachers and pupils at the school talk about the impact their Wall Art has on the learning environment and everyone in it.
We’ll also hear about the quality of service and value for money that Wall Art delivers. And why the school keeps coming back to Promote Your School again and again…
Steve Margetts is Principal at Torquay Academy and has been central to the partnership we’ve built with the school.
Speaking about the intuitive nature of our service, he says;
“We’ve found over the years that we’ve developed a close working relationship with Promote Your School. They seem to know exactly what we want.”
This is the kind of relationship we pride ourselves on building with schools. We consult and advise to ensure the best possible outcome on every project. It’s important that we really get to know each school so we can act as an intuitive partner, and are clear on their goals and expected outcomes.
Our background in education means we’re able to apply our extensive experience and knowledge of the education landscape. This has been a big part of our partnership with Torquay Academy.
It’s clear to see the scale of the transformation Wall Art has delivered to the school as you walk through the building. There’s a sense of awe and wonder in the intricately detailed, bespoke designs against the size and scale of the walls.
This creates a fully immersive learning environment, where pupils are transported from the ordinary everyday, into a world where anything is possible.
It is one of many reasons why the school opts to work solely with Promote Your School on their visual transformations.
We’ve integrated with the school’s team, got to know the buildings and delivered designs that fit the space and meet the school’s objectives, every time. It’s a perfect partnership.
Speaking about Wall Art by Promote Your School, Headteacher Steve Margetts says,
I’ve recommended Wall Art to a number of other schools. They’ve all been delighted with the work they’ve done.
The first day in September, when children come back after a summer and we’ve had Wall Art installed, there’s always that dropped jaw moment that the children have when they look up and see one of the spaces that has been done. It’s fantastic and it creates a real buzz.
Assistant Principal, Sarah Pappin, talks about the time teachers used to spend creating temporary displays.
She explains that; “pretty much as soon as they went up, they were outdated and started looking tatty. Now, [thanks to Wall Art], teachers spend more time in the classroom teaching…which is exactly where they shoud be.”
Alongside its learning and wellbeing benefits, Wall Art also reduces costs.
It’s a zero maintenance, longterm product. So it delivers real value to money, especially when compared with temporary displays.
One of the unintentional benefits that the Wall Art has created is our Maintenance team are just so delighted. It has led to a reduction in our painting costs and we were then able to invest that money in further Wall Art.”
We’ve designed multiple phases of Wall Art for Torquay Academy over the past few years.
Each phase has transformed a key area of the school and achieved a unique objective;
