The NSPCC Number Day Wall Art winning case study is here!
NSPCC Number Day took place on 6th February this year. On that day, children across the UK dedicated their time to all things Maths related!
The goal?
Raise vital funds to support the NSPCC’s services like Speak Out Stay Safe and Childline. And show pupils that Maths is loads of fun, and a key part of the curriculum.
Once again, Promote Your School donated a Wall Art project as a prize for the Number Day random draw. Every school that registered to participate in Number Day entered the draw. NSPCC then selected a winner at random – Newbridge School in Gwent were the lucky recipients!
They won a bespoke Wall Art project, including design, print and installation. We have now completed the project and are thrilled to share the results…

We visited Newbridge School to discuss their goals and preferences for the Wall Art prize. As the prize was related to Number Day, naturally it needed to be Maths related.
But, because we design everything bespoke, there were no limits on the design style, content and images. So, we encouraged the school to unleash their creativity and think deeply about what they wanted the designs to achieve.
They were keen to reinforce the relevance and importance of Maths in everyday life. From nature, cooking and sport to art, finance and engineering – maths is everywhere. So the design needed to communicate this message in a visually engaging way. The school chose a corridor for their Wall Art installation. Pupils use this corridor every day, so they would see the designs frequently and have plenty of opportunity to engage with them.
We included a large message within the design that says, “SEE THE MATHS IN EVERYTHING“.
This was core to the design as it communicates, at-a-glance, what the Wall Art is all about. Pupils can walk alongside the walls and explore the way Maths touches every aspect of modern life.
The design also lifts the space – a bold, blue background offers the perfect balance of visual stimulation. It adds colour and interest to the corridor, without overwhelming the senses.
Blue is a smart choice for the backdrop as, according to the British Psychological Society, the colour blue can boost creativity. Blue has also long been regarded as a calm colour. So the blue backdrop will inspire pupils to think calmly and creatively as they engage with the designs.
We loved working with Newbridge School to bring this project to life. The school’s vision was clear through their design brief; make maths relevant and accessible to all pupils. We achieved this by showing, visually, how Maths relates to natural and man-made aspects of life.
Bethan Williams, maths teacher and numeracy coordinator at the school, said pupils and staff had enjoyed taking part in Number Day and were delighted to win the Wall Art prize.
We were incredibly fortunate to be selected as winners of the Promote Your School prize
Promoting numeracy across other subjects and in real-life contexts has been a key focus at our school, so our design reflects this by showcasing real-world applications such as finance and sport.

This is the third year in which we’ve supported NSPCC Number Day. As experienced leaders in education and design, we believe it’s our duty (and privilege) to support organisations and initiatives that directly improve children’s health, happiness and attainment.
Number Day is a sterling example of this. It’s a hugely successful and high impact initiative that motivates pupils to engage with maths and numbers in a fun way. The NSPCC’s work is vital to protecting children across the country. And they rely heavily on fundraising to support their services.
So, we’re delighted to offer this Maths Wall Art project each year. NSPCC offers the Wall Art prize as an incentive to all schools who sign up and take part in Number Day.
Our role is to fulfil the prize – so we work directly with the winning school to bring the project to life. There is no cost to the school or the NSPCC – we offer the prize free of charge. The main requirement for the winning school is that the Wall Art project is Maths related. Everything else is open to the school’s preferences.
Number Day is such a special moment in the annual calendar for schools and nurseries.
We’re grateful to work with amazing partners and supporters who help bring pupils and staff together to celebrate the fun of maths while championing the importance of keeping children safe from harm.
We were thrilled to work with Promote Your School, who generously donated a bespoke maths and numerical Wall Art project. Their support adds a fantastic creative dimension to Number Day, inspiring pupils and transforming school spaces in a truly memorable way.
