We designed Wellbeing Wall Art for Kensington Avenue Primary School.

Kensington Avenue Primary School is part of Wandle Learning Trust. The school uses their many green, outdoor spaces for learning and play. So pupils can enjoy the many benefits of spending time outdoors.

However, the interior of their school is just as important for academic attainment, health and happiness.

“Inclusion is a fundamental part of who we are. We want every child to know that they belong at Kensington Avenue. We celebrate diversity, value individuality and work closely with families to ensure that children feel safe, understood and supported throughout their time with us. By building strong relationships and providing the right support at the right time, we help children develop confidence, independence and a belief in their own potential.” – Peter Killip, Headteacher

With this in mind, we created a bright Wellbeing wall to offer practical tips for pupils to improve their wellbeing.

Wellbeing Wall Art

The Wellbeing wall features exercises and activities that pupils can use every day. The goal is to empower pupils to understand their minds and bodies, and take action to be the best versions of themselves.

We used a green backdrop to mirror the school’s many green outdoor spaces. So, pupils can feel connected to nature from within their school building. We applied a mixed colour palette for the wider design. Images and text feature bright, vibrant colours to attract attention and stimulate the senses.

The activities and tips are simple and easy to follow. From breathing exercises to yoga poses, there’s something for everyone.

Balanced design

When we created the design, balance was key. We wanted the Wall Art to spark curiosity, so pupils were drawn to it. But, we didn’t want to overwhelm pupils or overstimulate them. So we used large image and text against a very simple background. So pupils can engage with the content at their own pace.

A couple of uplifting quotes complete the design and give pupils something to think about as they return to their school day. This wall can be used for pupils who need to regulate, for those with special educational needs and for any bother pupils who simply need a calm space.

Our design process

Wellbeing walls are very popular with schools who want a practical and tangible resource that pupils of all age can use.

As always, we kicked off our design process with a visit to the school. This visit allowed us to meet with the school leaders, understand their goals and vision for the project. Then we walked around the space to get a feel for how it could be used.

After the meeting, we put together a quote based on the scope of work required. We included all costs in the quote so the school were able to understand exactly what the project would entail. Once they approved the quote, we helped the school refine their design brief. Then, our design team got to work creating beautiful artwork that met the brief.

Finally, we printed and installed the Wall Art. This was included in the original quote as per our standard service.

Wow factor

The Wellbeing Wall Art serves two primary purposes. Firstly, it looks great! It has transformed a plain white wall into a colourful, engaging artwork. Secondly, it’s entirely aligned to the school’s objectives.

They wanted a practical resource that would appeal to their Primary aged pupils. And, as a proudly inclusive school, with a specialist ASD Resource Base, the design needed to be accessible to all pupils’ needs.

We created the designs 100% bespoke. The school could tell us exactly what content they wanted to include. Then our design team put together the images and text to bring the piece to life.

We’re delighted with the end result – and the school’s timing on this project is perfect as 10th October is World Mental Health Day. We’re certain pupils at Kensginton Avenue Primary School will use this Wellbeing Wall to maintain positive mindsets and create habits that keep them healthy and happy.
