The National Year of Reading 2026 is a UK-wide campaign designed to help more people rediscover the joy of reading. And, we’re delighted to have partnered with the National Literacy Trust to support this important initiative.
We donated a literacy Wall Art prize to NLT, which they offered as an incentive to schools. Every school that completed the relevant Spring Term reflections before the end of April entered a random prize draw. And, at the end of April, National Literacy Trust selected a winning school at random.
Our Lady and St. Joseph Primary School were the lucky winners! They won a bespoke Wall Art project, designed by us. The prize also included printing and installation. Now, we’re delighted to share the completed project with you.

The prize was a fully bespoke designed, printed and installed Wall Art project. There were a few criteria for the design. Firstly, it could cover up to 30 square metres of wall space. So the school could select a large area for their Wall Art that they felt would have the most impact.
Secondly, the designs had to be literacy based. The prize was offered through our partnership with National Literacy Trust, in support of the National Year of Reading. So, it made sense that this project should fuel literacy and encourage reading for pleasure.
We worked closely with the school and they shared their goals and vision for the Wall Art project. Then, our in-house design team transformed the brief into stunning artwork, which we presented back for feedback.
Our Lady and St. Joseph Primary School centers their curriculum on the philosophy; ‘Architects of a better world‘. It’s about empowering pupils to make a positive impact on those around them.
We applied this philosophy to our bespoke designs.
To begin, we linked the philosophy to reading – taking role models from society and visually representing how they use reading to become architects of a better world. Each of these role models has a connection to reading – either through their research in a specific field, or through the books they have written themselves. We then added quotes that connect reading to the philosophy, showing how reading can empower people to become architects of a better world.
The closer pupils look at their Wall Art design, the more they’ll discover. We featured objects that will remind pupils of their favourite stories – all set against a beautiful woodland backdrop. This creates a calm and serene ambience in the school hall.
A selection of Year 6 pupils at Our Lady and St. Joseph Primary School are reading ambassadors. These pupils promote a reading culture at the school, supporting and encouraging other pupils to read for pleasure.
The reading ambassadors played a big part in feeding into the design brief. They chose a list of books to reflect on, which we included in the design. Through the designs, the school was keen to boost pupils’ imaginations so they can become storytellers and create their own reading journeys. Once again, this ties in to the National Year of Reading, so closely aligns to the reason we donated the literacy Wall Art project to support the campaign.
We are delighted to support the National Literacy Trust in their National Year of Reading, Go All In campaign. As big advocates of reading for pleasure, we loved working with Our Lady and St. Joseph Primary School to fulfil their Wall Art prize.
It was wonderful to see pupils and teachers getting involved in putting together the brief – especially the Year 6 reading ambassadors. This Wall Art design will be their legacy and will promote reading for pleasure to future generations of pupils for many years to come.

We enjoyed working closely with the school to understand their goals for the project and those must-have elements they wanted to include.
The school was keen on a ‘woodland wonderland’ backdrop. They took inspiration from some of our other nature Wall Art case studies, and our blog about the benefits of nature themed Wall Art.
Reading needed to be front and centre, and the school provided us with a list of books and people they wanted to include. This formed the brief, which our design team worked with to create completely bespoke artwork.
As an education design agency, we work directly with schools every day. Through our partnerships with leading organisations, we’re able to extend our reach to schools and young people and support campaigns that reflect our focus on creativity, learning and wellbeing.
The National Year of Reading connects literacy to everyday activities, to make reading a regular part of our lives.
We’re thrilled to work with National Literacy Trust and have thoroughly enjoyed bringing the Wall Art prize to life for Our Lady and St. Joseph Primary School.
We’ll visit your school to understand your goals, explain our process and provide you with a no-obligation quote.
