We designed a solar system stairwell that’s truly out of this world!
The solar system stairwell is a powerful learning tool for pupils at Whitfield Aspen School in Dover. An immersive and visually stunning design has totally transformed the space (no pun intended) and brought the stairwell to life.
Stairwells provide the perfect blank canvas for Wall Art. They’re usually areas of heavy footfall and offer lots of lovely wall space that’s ideal for permanent, longlasting murals. This particular design showcases the awe and wonder of the solar system. It draws from the school’s physics curriculum to provide key facts and information that all pupils need to know.
We worked closely with the school to help them achieve their goals. They were keen to inspire learning and create a sense of awe and wonder on the stairwell walls. We worked around existing fixtures on the walls, like light switches and fire alarm boxes. So the Wall Art looks as though it’s always been there – it’s a true work of art!

Solar System Stairwell

As pupils make their way up and down the stairs each day, they can engage in active learning. They’ll absorb and remember information without even realising they’re learning! And, because the design is immersive, pupils will be captivated by the images and naturally drawn to the content.
A starry backdrop gives pupils the feeling of walking in space and being immersive in the solar system. It’s an effective design that draws pupils in so they want to engage with the images and information. This is active learning at its best!

Our process starts with a free, no obligation consultation. A regional consultant will visit your school to discuss your goals, provide tips and ideas and measure up the space. At this stage, you’re under no obligation to proceed with the project. We’ll send you a quote based on the scope of work required and you’re then free to decide whether you’d like to move forward with the project.
From there, we’ll guide you through design, print and installation of your Wall Art. Our installers can work over weekends and holidays to minimise disruption to teaching time!
