Crowdys Hill School Immersive Rainforest
We designed an immersive rainforest for Crowdys Hill School.
An immersive rainforest has transformed the walls and floors at Crowdys Hill School. The school supports pupils in Swindon who have special educational needs. It offers a safe, inclusive and aspirational environment for pupils.
We used the walls and floors to create this immersive design. On the walls, a rainforest features flora and fauna that capture attention and fuel imaginations. Pupils will be transported into a stunning natural world, far remove from their ordinary learning environment. Meanwhile. the floors offer activities for pupils, with instructions acting as built-in wayfinding, and a sense of achievement included!
Wall Art for SEND pupils

Thoughtful, bespoke design
Some children with special educational needs seek movement, colour and sensory input. Others need stillness and reduced stimulation to feel settled. Creating clearly defined spaces for both ends of that spectrum helps pupils manage their energy and return to learning, ready to focus.
Biophilic Wall Art, which uses nature as a backdrop, creates a relaxed, restorative feel that encourages pupils to properly switch off between lessons. In this design, we combined the natural backdrop with lots of detail and small discoveries, to give children somewhere to escape, regulate and quietly explore at their own pace.
Using the floor is a bold and effective choice. It draws pupils’ attention to their immediate surroundings, which can create a welcome distraction from the sensory stresses of school life.
