Pyjamarama 2026 – Win a Wall Art project

BLOG 06 APR 2026

Pyjamarama 2026 takes place on Friday 12th June.

Every school that registers for Pyjamarama 2026, will be entered into a random prize draw. BookTrust will select a school from the list and they will win a bespoke literacy Wall Art project, designed by us!

Crossacres Primary School won last year’s random prize draw. We designed a very personalised literacy wall for the school’s hall, inspired by experiences and adventures of pupils at the school.

You could be this year’s winner! Read on to find out how to take part in Pyjamarama and learn more about the Wall Art prize.

Pyjamarama 2026

On Friday 12th June, thousands of children all around the country – in schools, nurseries, community groups and at home – will spend the day reading, enjoying, and sharing stories. Children will wear their pyjamas to raise vital funds to ensure every child has access to a story at bedtime. You can choose to celebrate on 12 June, or any day that suits you best.

Five great reasons for getting involved

Win a literacy Wall Art project

Each year, we donate a Wall Art project to support Pyjamarama. And every school that registers to take part enters a random prize draw.

After Pyjamarama 2026 has taken place, BookTrust will choose one school at random and they’ll win the Wall Art prize. The prize includes a bespoke designed Wall Art project that we’ll print and install at the winning school.

Crossacres Primary School was last year’s Wall Art winner.

The school opted for a nature backdrop as the perfect setting for a reading-themed design. This sets the scene perfectly as it creates a calm and serene atmosphere in the large school hall.

Two key themes underpin the design: reading for pleasure and making memories. The children chose one of their favourite books as inspiration and gave the designers a brief that included a wish list of elements that resonated with them and their lives.

Connecting reading to lived experiences

We celebrated the stories they love and the memories they make with friends and family to add meaning and impact to the design. These included places they visit for school trips; Chester Zoo, Quarry Bank Mill and Blackpool Zoo. So we included these specific places within a large signpost, alongside fictional landmarks from their favourite stories. A caravan and aeroplane are a nod to holidays and a spirit of adventure – both present within stories and the families’ own lives. The rest of the objects were chosen to reflect the stories they enjoy and to inspire them to pick up a book to escape or be the creator of their own stories!

The school selected two quotes to appear in the design. These connect the magic of reading to the memories made during childhood. Holidays, day trips and time spent in nature echo the themes children read about in their favourite stories.

We loved tailoring the design to images and messages that mean a lot to the whole school community. This helps pupils connect with the Wall Art, feel inspired by the magic of stories and appreciate the importance of family. And all within one powerful design.

What is literacy Wall Art?

Children who read for pleasure are proven to be happier and healthier. And they achieve better learning outcomes at school. But sadly, many schools don’t have a dedicated library and children from underprivileged backgrounds often don’t have access to books at all.

There are so many benefits for children who are active readers. Books can transport children from their every day worries into magical worlds where anything is possible. Reading supports every aspect of the curriculum and is the very foundation to learning.

Literacy Wall Art brings the life-changing magic of reading to the walls of your school. We create all designs bespoke and in-house. And in this case, we’ll tailor the designs to the winning school’s objectives and available space. Wall Art sparks natural curiosity and promote discussion. So it’s a powerful tool to build vocabulary and critical thinking in pupils of all ages.

Popular types of Literacy Wall Art include;

“We’re absolutely delighted with the transformation of our school library. The Wall Art has turned the space into something truly magical.

Our children often say they feel transported into a different world as soon as they step inside. There’s a real buzz of excitement around the library, and everyone looks forward to their turn each week.

The design team were outstanding, creative, professional, and genuinely collaborative. They listened carefully to our ideas and worked with us every step of the way to bring this vision to life.

The result is a vibrant, inspiring environment that encourages imagination, curiosity, and a love of reading.”
