Maths Department Wall Art For Torquay Academy
Working in partnership with Torquay Academy we collaborated on an inspiring project to add vibrancy and character to their Maths Subject Zone.
The aim of the installation was to celebrate the realm of mathematics, showcasing renowned mathematicians as well as the diverse applications of mathematics in various sectors such as gaming, astrology, computing, sport and more.
Ultimately, the Wall Art aims to engage and illustrate the importance of maths as a subject in practical and intriguing ways for students, parents, teachers and the school community as a whole.
An Artistic And Mathematical Fusion
Not necessarily subjects that would typically pair together, however when art and maths collide we have proven that it can create something rather special.
While our natural world atrium wall art for Torquay Academy might have been a more obvious project to illustrate, the challenge of depicting the subject of maths into an immersive visual experience was a challenge we truly relished!
Exploring various facets of modern life, from gaming strategies to celestial calculations we sought to assert ‘This is why MATHS is important’ as the theme of the installation and an invitation to explore the multifaceted nature of mathematics.
Engaging Minds, Inspiring Futures
By depicting the practical applications of maths in visually captivating and engaging ways, we aimed to highlight the subject’s significance and intrigue with the ultimate goal of igniting curiosity in students.
By visually demonstrating maths’ vital role in more traditionally creative subjects using Maths Wall Art we hoped to broaden the mind of students as to how they could apply their skills in mathematics within potential future careers.
A final creative vector was to showcase famous faces from the past and present to underpin the overall message. From Anna Kissenhofer to Matt Parker a range of role models were blended within the bold colours and imagery to truly capture students’ attention.
Maximising The Space
Similar to how we utilised the atrium space in our previous project with Torquay Academy, we carefully tailored the Maths Wall Art to work in unison with its surroundings. The design process consisted of meticulous planning to seamlessly integrate the artwork within the space to maximise its impact and vibrancy within the building.
